KERN RIVER COMPANY PARTY

On Saturday, we went to David's Company Christmas party for kids. They held it at Discover Gateway in Salt Lake City, and it was fun! They have so many interactive activities for the kids to play with and we all had a great time. Kern River had a room on the fourth floor with beautiful sugar cookies and hot cocoa, and we got to see Santa. It was great!

STAKE CONFERENCE

I was "invited" to speak in Stake Conference about two weeks ago, and now it is only two weeks away. Of course I am nervous and every time I see the Sake President or one of his counselors, they seem to want to remind me. I wonder if they think I will forget something like this. Never fear, it is on my mind. I am flattered, but let's see how flattered I am around 2:00 on December 7th.

EXCITING PTA NEWS!!!

Okay! No cute pictures or anything really fun, but I wanted to update you all on what is going on in my life--just in case someone cares.

I have been asked to co-president our PTA. The former president just resigned because of personal reasons, and that left our PTA presidentless, so the principal approached last year's PTA president and me about joining together and helping get through the rest of the year. The bad part is that there is still a lot of the year left with a lot of big jobs to do, but the good part is that most of the really big stuff is done. I am flattered that they would trust this job to me, but also a little nervous about pulling my weight and being an asset to the PTA. Here we go again!

BECCA'S CAKE

This is Becca's latest cake. I just think it is so fun! She is doing so well at school, and I can't wait for her to come home. It will be weird to have her home and not going to school every day. I guess she needs a job so she can go back to school in the summer, so I won't see very much of her. We can still have fun.

VETERAN'S DAY

Yesterday was Veteran's Day and Nathan's cut scout group got to participate in a ceremony to retire an old flag at our school. It was a very nice ceremony, and Nathan got to be the one to carry the folded flag. Then his troup unfolded the flag and held it over the flame (our school secretary brought her fire pit from home), and they lowered the flag into the flame after two teachers in our school who are very big into scouting explained the sacredness of the flag and of that ceremony.

Whew! I just got done with about a two-month long marathon! Just a lot has been going on with about two major projects each week. This Saturday I teach a cooking class at our ward's Super Saturday, we have our last Primary Program to attend, and then I get a breather. To be fair, attending a ward's primary program is nothing--I really enjoy them. I am a little nervous about teaching the class on Saturday, but only a little. I think I have done enough of these, that I feel pretty good about how things will go. I am still not ready, but I know I will be.

I have been asked to speak at Stake Conference. That is a first for me, and I don't speak enough for that to be a comfortable thing, but I said "yes" and will try to do my best. I won't let that stress me out that much till later (in other words, I will procrastinate a little).

HALLOWEEN DAY

We didn't have school on Halloween, so the kids and I headed for the zoo. It was a perfect day. It was a little overcast, but nice and warm. We have some wonderful friends who gave us a zoo membership for Christmas last year and we finally decided to start using them. We had so much fun, and didn't get to see all the animals because we had to get back to West Bountiful to these same friends' house for a pre-trick or treating party. It was a good day. We had fun trick or treating. Nathan went with his friend Nathan, and he was a hobo (homeless type person). Chelsie went with her Dad and then with her Mom. She was a beautiful fairy princess. I didn't get a picture of her, but when her dress is out of the laundry, I will try to remember to have her put it on and take her picture.

THE WRITING IN THE ROAD

Okay! Elesa, when you see this, I know you will have far better words to describe what I am about to write, but here goes. I NEED to know if this happens to anyone else. The other day I was driving down the road, and there were the words "Truck Crossing" painted on the road. Well, the way my little brain works, I always read those road signs opposite. To me it said, "Crossing Truck." You see? Their efforts to make things more clear are totally wasted on me. I always see it the way you are supposed to read it, like Crossing School instead of School Crossing. I was just wondering if anyone else had this problem. Okay Elesa, what wonderful story would you have about this post? I love your writing!
