HE IS HOME

Yesterday, around 2:30 p.m., Carissa and Danny brought Preston home. I didn't get to take Chelsie over to see him for the first time till 9:30 last night because of things we were doing, but she fell in love with him the minute she saw him. Carissa and Danny let her hold him for almost a half an hour till we had to get home and get to bed. The minute we left, Chelsie wanted to know when she could come back and hold him again.

He is so tiny, but he has grown 1/2 inch. He is now 19 inches long. Thanks to baby showers, they have a bunch of diapers stored up which will definately come in handy and probably won't last as long as we think they will. It is so good to know that they are home!

GOOD NEWS

Carissa called today and said that the doctors are letting Preson be in their room now. I went to visit him and it is so good to see him without any IV's in him and he is just so cute. Carissa is hopeful that he will be able to come home on Tuesday. I took my camera to the hospital and didn't take any pictures.

I AM A GRANDMA

I am officially a grandma. Preston Lewis Davis was born last Saturday at 5:05 in the morning. Carissa had been to the hospital three times that week for stress tests, and finally they decided to induce labor. I think they actually started to induce her around 4:00 Friday night. It was long, slow process, but around 5:30 I got a call saying that the baby was finally here. Preston had a hard time breathing right away, so they wisked him away and Carissa and Danny didn't get to see him for quite a while. They had to stabalize his blood sugars, warm him up, put oxygen on him and even then, they didn't get to hold him.

He is doing much better. He is off of his oxygen, and has lost and gained weight. He is now up to his birth weight of 4 lbs. 13 oz. He was 18 1/2 inches long. He is very cute, but it is frustrating to not be able to hold him whenever we want. Hopefully he will come home soon. Carissa was released on Monday, but she can stay at the hospital in her room, at no charge, as long as Preston is there.

30 YEAR CLASS REUNION

Heather, Kim, David, and I made a trip back to Paradise, CA to our 30th Class Reunion. We enjoyed visiting the sights of home (La Comida, Italian Cottage--the important stuff). We visited Paradise High School, Paradise Lake, our home, went to church at the 3rd Ward Building, but visited the 1st Ward Building.

Our Reunion was great! It was my first one, so to see the amazing people who I haven't seen for 30 years was wonderful. I loved hearing what they had done with their lives, who they have married, where they live, etc. I am so glad we wore name tags because at first some of these people were strangers to me.  Once we got talking, it all came back and they were very familiar.

(I am in the blue/green, Renee Jellema, and Heather in the brown)
The organizers did a great job and chose a great venue. The food was perfect, and it was all very casual--just my style.

We stayed at the Parrotts and were very comfortable.  We appreciated their hopsitality.

I hope to go to another reunion in 5 or 10 more years.

After the reunion, we stayed at Uncle Lowell and Aunt Anne's and had a Hagberg Family dinner at Uncle Earl and Aunt Gay's house. We saw Gretchen and her family and Aunt Debbie and her family.

Then we spent a fun day in San Francisco before heading home.

NATHAN'S SCIENCE ASSIGNMENT

For science, Nathan had to build a simple machine using levers, pullies, incline planes, and stuff like that. It was supposed to smash a grape. He had fun putting it together and we were so excited when it actually worked.  He started with a marble, and it went through this whole obstacle course very quickly resulting in a can of refried  beans that fell on a grape. It was cool!

OUR STAR

Chelsie is in our school production of "Pirates, The Musical".  She had aperformance last night and then will have another one tomorrow (a matinee).  It is a story about a stow away on a pirate ship who is discovered.  The stow away longs to become a pirate and has to prove to the crew that she is up to the task. Chelsie is a lassie and this picture is of her in partial costume.  They did very well and the songs were all so fun.

WEDDING BELLS AGAIN

We returned home from Idaho last night (1:30 this morning). We have had a fantastic few days starting with Becca receiving her endowments in the Bountiful Temple on Saturday. Tuesday, Carissa and I took Becca to the Salt Lake Temple and enjoyed our time there.

Thursday morning, we woke up and had hair appointments, got dressed, and went to the temple. We were afraid that we had invited too many people to the ceremony, but we had about 10 seats left over, so we were o.k. A few of my family weren't there because of sick kids and new babies. The Temple Sealer was great with lots of good counsel. Becca and Zach are a beautiful couple and it was amazing to watch another daughter be married in the Temple.

We took pictures at the temple, and then Becca and Zach took more pictures. We had a wedding lunch at our church around 2:00, and then a reception at the singles ward building at 6:30. My friends, Sheri, Jenni, and Sherilyn did all the decorating, and they did a fabulous job. My friend Tonya took care of all of the hot chocolate details, and Tonya, Marj and Joy did cookies, clean up, and just anything that needed to be done that night. I didn't have to do anything but visit and enjoy. I felt so spoiled.

Tons of friends made cookies and made signs and helped with the wedding video, and on and on.

Friday, we went up to Idaho to have a reception in Idaho Falls. It was decorated so beautifully and it was fun to see Idaho friends. Everyone was so great!

Now, I will try to post some pictures.
