OUR CRUISE

We are back! We have been back for almost two weeks, but I haven't felt like posting anything and was waiting to get my pictures on a disc. We had fun, and it was so nice to get to warmer places. Seeing the ruins at Altun Ha was really neat. There is nothing more relaxing than being on a big ship in the middle of the ocean being waited on hand and foot. The water is so incredibley blue (which is my favorite color). We had a great time. Do you want to know what we did? I am not sure if this will bore you, but for those that are interested:

Saturday, January 31, 2009

We left for the airport around 2:00 p.m.

Our flight left at 4:10 and we arrived in Fort Lauderdale around 11:30 p.m. (It was a direct flight). We watched "The Secret Life of Bees" on the plane. We were hungry when we got to our motel, but everything was closed except for the drive thru at the McDonalds next door. McDonald's wouldn't let us walk through, so we asked the hotel shuttle driver to take us through the drive through. He did and we got a sandwhich and a shake and tipped the driver. Then we went back to our motel room. We shared our motel room with Aimee McConkie and Mark and Lisa Wilcox. We talked for awhile and then went to bed.

Sunday, February 1, 2009 (Board ship and set sail)

We got up and took the shuttle to the port. I tried to take pictures at the port, but was told if the port authorities saw me with the camera they would take it away. I am not sure why you can't take pictures there, but you can't. This is a picture of our ship. The first night we just wandered around the ship, unpacked, and got ready for dinner. We were on the Carnival Miracle. Our room stewart was wonderful and so sweet. His name was Herbert and he was from the Phillipines. Our head waiter was Pindile from South Africa and our assistant waiter was Ma from China.

Dinner: Lettuce wedge, New York Strip, Melting chocolate cake and Creme Brulee.

Our towell was shaped like a sea lion.

Monday, Januray 2, 2009 (Fun Day at Sea)

This was our first day at sea. Very relaxing! We slept in.

Formal dinner: Strawberry Bisque, Lobster (WONDERFUL!), Chocolate Melting cake.

After dinner we went to one of the stair cases and had a group picture taken, but there were so many of us. I don't think we all got in the picture. Everyone looked so nice all dressed up.

That night our towel was shaped like a puppy dog.

Tuesday, February 3, 2009 (Cozumel)

Got off the ship and shopped around the port. Then we wandered a little farther away with our group (Mark and Lisa Wilcox, Scott and Jamie Ipson, Steve and Tammy Nordfors, Randy and "T" Harris). Basically just shopped, checked out some of the local sites and then went back to the ship. David and I headed back before the rest of the group, but before long, they were right behind us.
Dinner: Shrimp Cocktail, Corn-fed Chicken breast, chocolate melting cake
Towell: Koala

Wednesday, February 4, 2009 (Costa Maya)

We left the ship around 10:30 and went by bus to a beach. We had fun playing in the water and goofing off. I took some video, but don't know how to get it on the computer. Anyway, it was fun.
Dinner: Shrimp Cocktail, Bowtie pasta with chicken and peas, lime sherbet
Towell: Kitty

Thursday, February 5, 2009 (Belize)

We got off and arranged to go to Altun Ha. We had a fun group and really enjoyed our day. Our driver was Glenford and he drove us by the LDS Chapel when he found out we were Mormon. Dinner: Shrimp cocktail, Veal Parmigan, chocolate melting cake
Towell: Bunny

Friday, February 6, 2009 (Day at Sea)

Took a tour of the kitchen, went up on deck but very windy and cool. Some of our group was laying out.
Dinner: Escargot, fruit cocktail, Charred Spring Chicken, Baked Alaska
Towell: A Monkey hanging from our ceiling

Saturday, February 7, 2009 (Grand Cayman)

Went to 7-Mile Beach. It was incredible. It was so pretty and aqua blue and the waves weren't too wild. The sand was so soft and beautifully white. We stayed here most of the time.
We had a special reception on the ship for those who had previously cruised with Carnival. It was good.
Dinner: Lasagna (as an apptetizer), Flat Iron Steak, Phylo roll (interesting)
Towell: An Elephant
Shopped with Debbie and Bishop Hammond in the Jewelry store. Later went to Karaoke with David.

Sunday, February 8, 2009 (Day at Sea)

We ate breakfast and then went to the ship's chapel where we had a little meeting at 1:00. Aimee McConkie and Brother Prince spoke. We tried to observe the sabbath as much as we could.
Dinner: Navy Bean Soup, Baby Back Ribs, Chocolate Melting Cake
Towell: Heart

After dinner, we did go down to the Phantom lounge and got a spot for our group. One of our friends was picked to be in the final show and we all wanted to support him. He did great and it was so fun.

Monday, February 9, 2009

Debark around noon and head to the airport. Waited till 2:00 for our flight home. The rest is history.

It was fun. Somewhere in there, we watched movies (Mama Mia, Jerry McGuire, and one other), saw shows at the Phantom Theater, played cards with our friends (or watched), ate and ate and ate, did Karaoke, checked out the disco and danced a little.
