BECCA HAD HER BABY!

Well, baby Ethan is here! Becca had her baby on Friday. She had been having pains Thursday night, and went in Friday morning to her doctor appointment.  The doctor told her she was having preliminary labor pains and that she wasn't in labor, but that he would induce her later that day. Their hospital is Madison Hospital in Rexburg, and it is pretty small and they only have one birthing room. They had a few women having babies that day, so she had to wait till the hospital called to tell her the room was available.  Meanwhile, she was feeling those dumb pains (even though she wasn't really in labor, it sure hurt).

Finally, at 4:00 they called and said they were ready to admit her. Zach and Becca headed up to the hospital and got admitted and she was there for a couple of hours and around 6:30 had a c-section because they were worried about the baby's heart rate and him being under stress. Once they decided to go ahead with the C-section, it happened so fast.

Chelsie and I were driving up, but we were too late.  We were almost to Rexburg when Zach announced that they had a baby! I was so shocked and excited for them. It was so fun to see our cute little Ethan Zachary Wixom soon after we got there. Becca looked great (a little tired), and Ethan is beautiful.

Zach slept at the hospital three nights. I stayed at "the cabin" (the Rose's home in St. Anthony--just 15 minutes away from Rexburg) with Chelsie, Carissa, Danny, and baby Preston the first night. Saturday I stayed at "the cabin" with Chelsie, and then last night I stayed at Zach and Becca's.

Today, around noon, we got him to Becca and Zach's place. He is a good baby and sleeps a lot. It is a relief to have Becca and Ethan home and doing well.

HE IS HOME

Yesterday, around 2:30 p.m., Carissa and Danny brought Preston home. I didn't get to take Chelsie over to see him for the first time till 9:30 last night because of things we were doing, but she fell in love with him the minute she saw him. Carissa and Danny let her hold him for almost a half an hour till we had to get home and get to bed. The minute we left, Chelsie wanted to know when she could come back and hold him again.

He is so tiny, but he has grown 1/2 inch. He is now 19 inches long. Thanks to baby showers, they have a bunch of diapers stored up which will definately come in handy and probably won't last as long as we think they will. It is so good to know that they are home!

GOOD NEWS

Carissa called today and said that the doctors are letting Preson be in their room now. I went to visit him and it is so good to see him without any IV's in him and he is just so cute. Carissa is hopeful that he will be able to come home on Tuesday. I took my camera to the hospital and didn't take any pictures.

I AM A GRANDMA

I am officially a grandma. Preston Lewis Davis was born last Saturday at 5:05 in the morning. Carissa had been to the hospital three times that week for stress tests, and finally they decided to induce labor. I think they actually started to induce her around 4:00 Friday night. It was long, slow process, but around 5:30 I got a call saying that the baby was finally here. Preston had a hard time breathing right away, so they wisked him away and Carissa and Danny didn't get to see him for quite a while. They had to stabalize his blood sugars, warm him up, put oxygen on him and even then, they didn't get to hold him.

He is doing much better. He is off of his oxygen, and has lost and gained weight. He is now up to his birth weight of 4 lbs. 13 oz. He was 18 1/2 inches long. He is very cute, but it is frustrating to not be able to hold him whenever we want. Hopefully he will come home soon. Carissa was released on Monday, but she can stay at the hospital in her room, at no charge, as long as Preston is there.
